something that adds attractiveness; ornament; accessory:
In 2011 Emma showed the culmination of four years of explorations of digital placement print combined with digital mark making in an exhibition entitled Neck and Neck. Here she exhibited a collection of digital printed artworks that could be worn around the neck "neck canvases". These first pieces led her to establish N&N WARES in 2012 with a collection of limited edition silk scarves produced in the UK.
N&N WARES produces a yearly collection of scarves sold through select retailers, galleries and online. By engineering colour, gradient and graphic pattern when worn these scarves take on a sculptural form. Each design is an individual canvas created in response to the frame and three-dimensional nature of the scarf. Tied, looped or draped determines how the print is viewed. The focus is on harnessing digital print to minimise waste, reduce energy and water use to create limited edition adornments. Each piece is by design engineered to fit the pattern. When cut out there is hardly any waste, final pieces are made by skilled hands that cut, sew and finish. Please visit the shop to see the most recent wares for sale.
